BOBBY

Writing for some is a release, an opportunity to sink into a life or age which one can only imagine. For others writing is an extension of their vocabulary, a continuation of their life experiences and those of others they have witnessed. Where Robert ʻBobbyʼ Brooks is concerned, writing is an essential pre-requisite, something he has enjoyed from a tender age.
Having been encouraged by his fourth grade teacher while in school to pursue his obvious addiction to the fundamentals of writing, it was through the incessant playing of Hip-Hop by his brother that Bobby fused his passion for writing with the sounds he had become familiar with.
Born in New York and raised in Virginia Beach where Hip-Hop honorees, Timbaland, The Neptunes and Missy Elliott were prevalent, a diverse cast influenced and inspired Bobby when it came to his music. But it was when he returned to live in NYC at the age of 13 that Bobby penned his first rhyme and performed it at a school talent show. “Right then and there, I knew I had this ʻnewʼ love for Hip-Hop that maybe I could do something with it.”
Mesmerized by the multiformity of Outkast, the Goodie Mobb, Gnarls Barkley and the strength of Wu Tang it wasnʼt just the art of rhyme Bobby was intrigued by; he also found himself dabbling in production. Due to lack of funds to continue buying instrumentals to write his rhymes too, Bobby downloaded Fruity Loops and began to produce his own tracks from his bedroom. Recognizing that crafting music was just as intricate as penning a sixteen, he kept on pushing himself, eager to become as proud with his beats as he was his verses.
No matter how much he enjoys developing sounds it is when he picks up a mic that he feels that surge of energy charge through his veins, one which he is unable to deny. Having already released a mixtape earlier this year, The Introduction, Bobby is currently hard at work on his sophomore project which will be released through his own independent outfit GemStars. The Most Interesting Man in the World is slated for a fall release and will see the determined wordsmith solidify his ability to tackle both versatility and structure.
With stage and TV performances to his credit, Don Hills, 40c and various appearances on Public Access shows throughout the tri-state, Bobby is now bringing himself to the forefront of the media world. With nods from TheIndustryCo-sign.com and Hip- HopGame.com, it looks like the online world are ready to embrace the skills that this native New Yorker suggestively flaunts.
